A murder case in the town of Eagle Point in 2000 was featured in a national TV program Monday afternoon.
The program, “True Convictions,” focused on the case of Bill Paul Marquardt, who was acquitted of the murder of his mother, Mary Jane Marquardt.
The prosecutor in that case, then Chippewa County District Attorney Jon Theisen, was able to trace evidence in the Eagle Point murder with a double murder in Florida. Bill Paul Marquardt, now 42, was convicted of those two murders and is on Florida’s death row.
Theisen, now a judge in Eau Claire County, was interviewed for the program, as was former Chippewa Herald reporter Jeff Hage. Parts of the program were shot last year in downtown Chippewa Falls and City Hall.
