NEW HOLSTEIN, Wis. — Albert Louis Brown, 88, of New Holstein died Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, in Marathon County.
He was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Menomonie son of the late Albert and Anne (Ortner) Brown. He married Mary Lou Groom, Dec. 23, 1951, and together they raised three sons. He celebrated 60 years of marriage with Mary Lou before she passed away in 2012.
Al served in the Army before returning to college and he went on to be an educator and school administrator for 38 years. He was most proud of his family; he enjoyed having them come to his house or visiting at family events. He loved his home: that is where he built his house, his woodshop, and other buildings/structures. He took pride in his woodworking skills and spent hours on his projects. His family remembers him as a generous man with a kind heart. Al was always willing to help his friends and family. He enjoyed his neighbors who would come by to drink coffee, play cards, debate politics and discuss current events.
Albert is survived by his sons, Al (Gail) Brown, Chip (Jody) Brown, and Mike (Barb) Brown; his grandchildren, Matt Brown, Chris (Angie) Brown, Eric (Becky) Brown, Greg (Claire) Brown, Amanda (Wayne Neubecker) Brown, and Megan Brown; his great-grandchildren, Jayda Brown, Drayven Brown, Stella Brown, Lydia Brown, Stevie Brown, Greta Brown, Mya Brown, and Nora Brown; and his sister, Patricia Reidt.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; his parents, Albert and Anne Brown; and his sister, Jean Harris.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home, 411 W. Main St., Chilton. Friends may call at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the funeral home. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the St. Paul Cemetery in Menomonie.
