David Daniel Hager Sr., 78, of Chippewa Falls, town of Lafayette, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at Deerwood Adult Family Home in Eau Claire.
He was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Bloomer to Rosetta (Martin) and Rudolph Hager. He attended Stillson Elementary School and Chippewa Falls High School.
On Feb. 24, 1962, David married Sue Goltz. Together they had seven children and farmed in the town of Lafayette. The couple later divorced but remained close friends.
After David retired from farming, he drove school bus for Chippewa Yellow Bus Company.
David enjoyed riding his John Deere tractors, fishing, and snowmobiling. He belonged to two snowmobile clubs, the Bateman Snowriders and the Hallie Eagles Snowmobile Club.
He will be dearly missed by his seven children, Joyce (Mark) Malison of Jim Falls, Carrie (Kevin) Krall of Stanley, William of Mondovi, Roxann (James) Canfield of Jim Falls, Wendy Hager-Rogers of Chippewa Falls, David D. Jr. of Mauston, and Daniel (Nicole) of Boyd; his former wife, Sue Goltz-Hager of Stanley; a brother, George (Janet) of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Johannes (Lindsey) Malison, Kenneth Hager, Isaiah Pecha, Joshua (Brittany) Canfield, Heather Canfield, and Pamela, Thomas, Jocelyn and Rudy Hager; great-grandchildren, Blake and Ruby Malison, Aria Canfield, and Faith Hager; his dog and best friend, Skip; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lucille and Richard Hager in infancy, Robert Hager, Annamae Smith, Mary Gast and Martha Brantner.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Mike Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie View Cemetery in Hallie.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
