BOYD — Harvey William Licht, 88, of Boyd passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at Dove Healthcare-Wissota Health in Chippewa Falls, surrounded by his family.
Harvey was born June 18, 1929, to William and Louise Licht and was raised on the same farm his great-grandfather Nick Licht Sr., bought the land in 1875. The farm has been in the 5th direct Licht generation.
In the 1950s Harvey also worked for the Delmar Red Oak Telephone Company as a lineman.
Harvey married Joan Beaudot Oct. 24, 1951, at St. Mary’s Church in Stanley.
He enjoyed playing basketball for the Boyd Bee’s in his high school years, he also enjoyed square dancing, bowling, card playing, casinos and was a great sports fan.
He was a member of All Saints Parish and Stanley Knights of Columbus.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Joan Licht; five children, Bill Licht, Tom (Ann) Licht, Diane (Tom) Mertens, Darlene (Kevin) Briggs and Doug (Donna) Licht; 12 grandchildren, Marty Mertens, Nicky Jaeger, Susan Mertens, Paul Mertens, Steve Mertens, Sarah Pilgrim, Becky Pronschinske, Tim Licht, Joe Licht, Wesley Briggs, Emily Bigelow and Jenny Black; eight great-grandchildren, Bethany, Darren, Megan and Neil Pilgrim, Camdyn and Quinn Licht, Fox Mertens and Stella Jaeger; and a brother, Gerald Licht.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise Licht; his brothers, Herman, Art, Ray, Bob and Florian Licht; and a sister, Lorraine Spaeth.
Harvey had three great loves in his life, faith, family and farming.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boyd, with Father William Felix officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery following the funeral Mass.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary recited by Deacon Ned Willkom, Thursday, Dec. 28, Leiser Funeral Home, Cadott. Visitation will also be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday morning, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.
