Joseph Eugene Roshell, 80, of Chippewa Falls and Lake Holcombe, died Feb. 17, 2012.
Joseph was born Oct. 12, 1931 in Cadott, the son of Joseph and Anna (Nesvacil) Roshell. He graduated from Cadott High School in 1949 and served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He married Anne Marie Matsche on July 11, 1953 in Cornell. He was employed by and co-owned Roshell Electric from 1950 to 1994.
He was a charter member of the Chippewa Falls Lions Club and was a current member of the Lake Holcombe Lions Club. He served in many officer positions, including District Governor as well as Director and President of the Wisconsin Lions Foundation. He was awarded Melvin Jones Fellow award as well as Birch/Strum Award and three International Presidents awards.
While he resided in Chippewa Falls he served on the Public School Board, Police and Fire Commission, and Central Lutheran Church Council and Foundation. He served as Director and President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association for 17 years. After retirement, he moved to Lake Holcombe and became active in the Lions Club, Lake Association, and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Joseph is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Anne; two daughters Terri (Screven) Farmer of Tucson, Ariz., and Marilyn (John) Berg of Eau Claire; son Brent (Lynnette) Roshell, of Wyoming, Minn; his grandchildren, James, Joseph, and Jason Farmer, David and Heidi Smith, Zach Berg, and Jacob and Matthew Roshell. In addition, he leaves his brother Marvin (Bobbie) Roshell of Hot Springs, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, with Rev. Brahm Semmler-Smith officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell, and also one hour before the services Tuesday at the church.
