Steven J. Samens, 69, of Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at his residence under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Steven was born July 30, 1950, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Edward and Velma “Jolan” Erdely. Steven was a graduate of McDonell High School. He worked for Pactiv as a printer for 40+ years. He enjoyed car shows, hunting and fishing, gardening-taking care of potted plants and flowers, attending thresheree events and tractors.
Steven was a member of the Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council #974 and St. Peter’s Church.
Steven is survived by his mother, Jolan Samens of Chippewa Falls; four brothers, Joseph (Barbara) Samens, Richard (Pamela Graffice) Samens, Dennis Samens and Donald (Wanda Wilson) Samens all of Tilden; one sister, Margo Meyer of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces and nephews, and Linda Crandall, soulmate, of Chippewa Falls.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Edward Samens; his grandparents, nephew, Tony Samens; and niece, Andrea Meyer.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 21, at St. Peter’s Church in Tilden. The Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Gorman will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, until the time of services at noon at St. Peter’s Church in Tilden.
Steven will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Marion G. Simon, 89, formally of Stanley, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, at Wissota Place in Chippewa Falls. Marion was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Kenton, Mich., to the late John and Irene (Pathic) Gospodar. The family moved to the Stanley area when she was a young girl. Marion attended local schools and graduated from Stanley High School. Marion married Donald Simon Sept. 13, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stanley.
Marion was a receptionist for Dr. Mathwig at The Stanley Clinic for many years and then worked at the Northern Center until her retirement.
Marion is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Bill (Gail) of Eau Claire, Nancy (Jim) Kowalczyk of Boyd, Cindy (Ed) Irish of Cadott, Mary (Greg) Seichter of Alma Center, and Katherine (Greg) Ruff of Oswego, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Gospodar; and sister, Betty Lou Welke; and grandson, Eric Kowalczyk.
A funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, with Father William Felix officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday night with rosary at 7 p.m. at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday.
Michael A. Moulton, 66, formerly of Eau Claire passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2019. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Smith Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service.
THORP — Clarence R. Mroz, 88, of Thorp passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at Dove Healthcare-Wissota.
Clarence was born March 25, 1931, in rural Thorp, the son of Felix and Ramie (Zuzelski) Mroz. He was raised on the family farm and attended Thorp schools. On Sept. 10, 1955, Clarence was united in marriage to Alice Strzok at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. They assumed operation of his parents dairy farm and ran a logging business for many years.
Clarence had many interests including bowling, golfing, dancing, traveling and was a devoted fan of all Wisconsin sports teams. Clarence loved spending time outdoors and took great pride in the harvest his farmland and woodland produced.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Terry Halida of Chippewa Falls; sisters, Theresa Javore of Menomonee Falls and Alice (Edwin) Bishop of Franklin; a brother-in-law; sister-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Alice, Jan. 20, 2017; his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Parish in Thorp, with visitation two hours prior. Mass will be con-celebrated by the Rev. John Schultz and the Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu.
