Time Capsule: The Falls at Chippewa Falls

  • 0
The Falls at Chippewa Falls

The Falls on the Chippewa River defined the area geographically and historically. Native Americans camped along the banks long before Jean Brunet paddled a canoe up the river, where he encountered the roaring waters tumbling over granite rocks.

The Falls, located just above the junction of Duncan Creek and the Chippewa River, became the focal point for the young city of Chippewa Falls.

Each Saturday, the Chippewa Area History Center showcases a piece of local history in the Herald. The Area History Center at 123 Allen St, Chippewa Falls, has multiple rooms of displays about Chippewa County history and genealogy.

Visit www.ChippewaAreaHistoryCenter.org to learn more about the future Chippewa Area History Center, currently being constructed on Bridgewater Avenue, and see how you can help support local history preservation and education.
