On November 7, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) held news conferences to preview the day's floor session. Rep. Hintz called for action on Gov. Evers' special session on gun violence legislation. "We know that when we put these bills forward...[we] put forward common sense proposals, supported by the state, that we know can reduce the risk or likelihood of firearms getting in the hands of those individuals who could harm themselves or harm others." Rep. Vos said that the Assembly would go through their entire calendar and toward the end would likely follow the lead of the Senate to gavel in and gavel out on the special session. "We've already had these debates, we already know where people stand, and I don't necessarily want to spend a bunch of time playing politics with this which is what my Democratic colleagues would want."
