On July 10, the Assembly Committee on Health held a public hearing on Assembly Bill 238 relating to diabetes care and prevention. Anand Iyer, chief strategy officer at Welldoc, described how integrating digital therapeutics like their BlueStar software, would greatly aid in diabetes patient care. "We estimate that out of the numerous Type 2 diabetics in Wisconsin, about 95,000 of them...if 20 percent of them were to adopt a software based solution like [BlueStar], we could save the state $24 to $36 million annually..." Iyer also responded to a question by Rep. Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) about how older diabetes populations, who may not be digitally savvy, could benefit from this software. "Our largest group of users are actually above the age of 55."
