"First of all there aren't enough absentee ballots...there aren't enough envelopes, there's not enough time," League of Wisconsin Municipalities Executive Director Jerry Deschane said in recent Newsmakers interview. Deschane responded to Governor Tony Evers saying that Wisconsin can conduct this election largely through absentee ballots. He agreed with the governor's recommendation from a health standpoint but reiterated that municipal clerks still face logistical challenges. "It's sort of like the crew on Apollo 13, where they took the roll of duct tape, plastic bag, and an old gym sock and made a piece of critical infrastructure out of it," Deschane added, "We will do that, I'm not quite sure what it's going to look like or what it's going to smell like, but we will do that."
