On November 7, the Madison chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and UW-Madison's Center for Journalism Ethics hosted a panel discussion on journalism ethics and the challenges of covering politics. Dhavan Shah, director of the UW-Madison Mass Communication Research Center, discussed how President Trump has "outflanked" the media. "The media has not figured out how to respond to Donald Trump, and they're using their old rules and tools and techniques, and they're failing miserably in the process," Shah said.
