"You know, we're living in challenging times, but American farmers have risen to the challenge...and I want to assure you, as the President took action from very early on...[and] with American ingenuity and the great, great pharmaceutical industry we have, I believe with all my heart, before the end of this year we're going to have a vaccine, and we're going to put this Coronavirus in the past," Vice President Mike Pence (R) said at a recent USMCA roundtable at Morning Star Dairy in Onalaska. Pence talked about the challenges farmers have faced during the pandemic and highlighted the $19 billion in federal aid with $1.1 billion targeted to dairy farmers. The Vice President also emphasized that 86 thousand loans that were provided through the paycheck protection program in Wisconsin. In regards to reopening the economy, Pence said that in the last two months, more than 7 million jobs have been added despite losing 22 million jobs at the height of the pandemic.
