The Murk Family Trio will present a mini concert during morning worship Sunday, June 30 at 9 a.m. at Oak Ridge Church in Menomonie. Pastor Murk will preach on "How Radical Islam fits into the Second Coming of Christ."
The Murk Family have presented over 5,000 concerts during the past 35 years. The family concerts began when Jim Murk, father of the family, won the national championship of the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour on CBS-TV in 1963. At the time he was a minister and college professor. They didn't know it at the time, but this was the beginning of a new professional career for his family. His wife Donna, son Bill, and four daughters, Beverly, Becky, Brenda, and Barbi performed together for 20 years as singers and instrumentalists on their strings - violins, viola and cello. Now four of the children are married and most have their own professional musical families. Today, the Murk Family ensemble is called the Murk Family Trio which includes mom and dad (Donna and Jim) with their oldest daughter Beverly - an accomplished concert violinist and soprano soloist.
The Murks have presented a great variety of programs. They have appeared before major conventions, women's clubs, civic organizations, universities, and school assemblies. Their largest single live audience numbered over 200,000 people when they were part of a great TV rally in the gigantic Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Murks have produced over 20 LP recordings and have also appeared many times both nationally and locally on radio and TV in the United States. Their music ranges from the finest of classical to the best of the contemporary. But most important to them is the ministry of spreading the love and joy that one can have through knowing Christ.
Oak Ridge Church is located at 620 24th Avenue, west in Menomonie. The Murk family will perform and Pastor Murk will preach during the 9 a.m. worship service. There is no admission charge. A free will offering will be taken.
