As predicted, Senate Republicans have voted to acquit President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial. President Trump's party is letting him off the hook despite strong evidence he abused his power as president to pressure Ukraine to help with his 2020 election campaign.

His candidacy may sink the ambitions of other moderates such as former Vice President Joe Biden, former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg and U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. 

The State Legislature is poised to extend bar time until 4 a.m. during the Democratic National Convention which will be held in Milwaukee this July. If Bernie Sanders become the Democratic nominee, lots of moderate and establishment Democrats will need those extra hours to drown their sorrows.
