Who pays for harassment settlements?
Taxpayers of Wisconsin, and for that matter, the entire United States, in 1990 the Office of Compliance was formed as part of the Treasury Department, which has paid more than $17 million to almost 300 sexual harassment or discrimination claims.
Guess where the money comes to pay for this? That’s right, us taxpayers. Anyone in federal government who commits these acts never has to pay. We do. But in the public cases, that person has to pay, not us. Something has to change.
Let your senators or representatives know this has to change.
I asked Rep. Sean Duffy about this two weeks ago, and so far have heard nothing. Go to the Congressional slush fund for sexual harassment settlement if you want to know more.
