A La Crosse man was sentenced to 66 years in prison for an October 2018 fatal crash in Sauk County that claimed the lives of two people and severely injured two others.
After four days of trial and roughly six hours of deliberation, a jury found 58-year-old Albart B. Shores of La Crosse guilty on all 15 counts he faced as the result of a double fatal crash in October 2018.
In the first jury trial held in Sauk County Circuit Court in more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the attorney for the accused told a jury as it sat behind plexiglass dividers that his client did not cause a double fatal crash.
The jury trial will begin Monday after an Onalaska man charged with homicide by use of a vehicle stood mute Friday in Sauk County Circuit Court.
Albart B. Shores, 67, previously was convicted of operating while intoxicated four times and operating with prohibited alcohol concentration once.
