San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon was placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2015 season, the team announced on Monday.
Gordon left Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins with a knee injury in the second quarter and did not return.
The former University of Wisconsin running back ran for 641 yards on 184 carries in 14 games during his rookie season. He also had five fumbles, including four lost, on the year and did not score a touchdown.
Gordon was selected by the Chargers as the 15th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft after a standout career with the Badgers. He ran for 2,587 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior in the 2014 season and finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting behind Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.
