EAU CLAIRE — The Chi-Hi boys tennis team fell to Eau Claire Memorial 7-0 in its Big Rivers Conference opener on Thursday afternoon at the Menards Indoor Tennis Center.

No. 1 singles Sean Martin, No. 2 Simon Arneberg, No. 3 Eli Marticorena and No. 4 Mitch Vanyo each fell in straight sets, with the tightest matchups coming with Arneberg against Max Loen (3-6, 1-6) and Vanyo versus Grant Wolfe (3-6, 3-6).

In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Luke Mazur and Lucas Connolly, No. 2 team of Isaac Hein and Andy Stoll and No. 3 team of Dylan Jaquish and Joe Jasper were each defeated in straight sets.

The Cardinals (1-1) opened the season on Tuesday with a 4-3 win at Holmen. Arneberg, Marticorena and Vanyo picked up straight-set singles wins while the No. 3 team of Jacob Klages and Nick Mason overcame an opening-set defeat to win in three sets.

Chi-Hi is scheduled to host Osceola on Tuesday before jumping back into league play on Thursday, April 19 at Eau Claire North.
