MENOMONIE — Chi-Hi's Madelyn Hedrington ran to victory in the 100-and-300-meter hurdle events on Thursday to lead the Cardinal track and field team at the Mustang Open.
Hedrington won the 100 in 17.18 seconds and the 300 in 49.50. She was joined in first place by Ella Behling, who took the top spot in the 800 in 2:28.04 while also taking second in the 1,600.
Maddie Helland was second to Hedrington in the 300 hurdles while Mitchell Stelter had a second-place finish in the 300 hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles.
Bryce Daniels took third place in the 800 and 1,600 and Ben LeMay took fourth in the 3,200.
The Chi-Hi girls took fourth as a team with 52 points and the boys finished seventh with 41. The River Falls girls (98) and boys (86.5) swept the team championships.
McDonell/Regis 2, Osceola 1
At Osceola, Esme Reinders and Payton Swoboda each scored second-half goals to lead the Saints to a win.
Reinders scored first for McDonell/Regis (2-0) at 69:21 on an assist from Emily Haag to tie the game at one. Swoboda gave the Saints the lead for good in the 87th minute with the go-ahead goal on an assist from Reinders.
The Saints outshot Osceola 14-12 while Anna Allen made eight saves in goal for the Saints.
McDonell/Regis is scheduled to host Melrose-Mindoro on Monday at Casper Park.
