The McDonell and Bloomer softball teams each earned No. 1 seeds for the upcoming playoffs in their respective sectionals, according to playoff brackets released by the WIAA on Wednesday.

The Macks are a No. 1 seed in their Division 5 sectional and have a bye to the regional semifinals on Wednesday, May 23, where they will meet the winner of the No. 8 Bruce/No. 9 Owen-Withee regional quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, May 22.

The Blackhawks are a No. 1 seed in their Division 3 sectional and have a bye to the regional semifinals where they will meet the winner of No. 8 Saint Croix Falls and No. 9 Spooner from a day earlier.

Chi-Hi is a No. 3 seed in their Division 1 sectional will be in action in the regional semifinals when they host No. 14 New Richmond.

Stanley-Boyd earned a No. 9 seed in their Division 3 sectional and will play at No. 8 Osseo-Fairchild in the regional quarterfinals. The winner will play at No. 1 Prescott in the semifinals.

Lake Holcombe/Cornell is a No. 3 seed in Division 4 and hosts No. 6 Clayton/Turtle Lake in the semifinals while No. 9 Cadott will play at No. 8 Clear Lake in the quarterfinal round with the winner advancing to face top-seeded Thorp in the semifinals.

No. 3 Gilman in Division 5 will host the winner of No. 6 Loyal/No. 11 Rib Lake in the regional semifinals.

Regional finals will take place on Friday, May 25 at the higher-seeded team site. Sectional semifinals take place on Tuesday, May 29 with sectional finals behind held on Thursday, May 31 at neutral sites.

The prep softball state tournament will be held from June 9-11 at Goodman Softball Diamond in Madison.
