MENOMONIE — The Cadott girls track and field team continued its strong start to the 2013 season with an impressive showing Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets finished seventh in the 20-team small school division of the 2013 Northern Badger Classic at Johnson Fieldhouse on the campus of UW-Stout.

Cadott finished with a team score of 36 points. Arcadia won the meet with a score of 95 points.

Leading the way for the Hornets was Lexi Siverling, who grabbed a first-place finish in the high jump with a leap of five feet.

However, there were a number of other impressive performances from Cadott.

Lauren Manier took second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.78 seconds, while Tori Rykal took third in the triple jump with a leap of 30-feet, 8.5-inches.

Deanna Sikora grabbed a third-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 31-feet, 9.25 inches.

Rykal also took eighth in the 200-meter dash, while Elizabeth Kyes took 11th. Samantha Rineck took 10th in the 800-meter run and the 4X400-meter relay team took sixth.

Cadott’s 4X200-meter relay took seventh.

Meanwhile, the Bloomer girls track and field team came in just behind Cadott, finishing in eighth place with a score of 29 points.

Cora Bruxvoort paced the Blackhawks with a third-place finish in the 1,600-meter run, finishing in 6:04.86.

Nicole Lanzer took fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46.17, while Ciera Rogge was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 30-feet, 10.75 inches.

Elisabeth Anderson was fifth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13:55.32.

Caitlin Hilger took sixth in the 400-meter dash, while Emily Peterson grabbed a seventh-place finish in the 55-meter dash and a 10th-place finish in the 200-meter dash.

Kali Pecha was ninth in the 400-meter dash and Paige Zeman was ninth in the 800-meter run.

Bloomer’s 4X400-meter relay took seventh.

Cornell/Lake Holcombe took 13th as a team with a score of 13 points.

Gretchen Schroder led the way for Cornell/Lake Holcombe with a third-place finish in the pole vault, coming in with a vault of seven feet.

Bianca Winter took sixth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 14:01.48, while Sara Stender was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 29-feet, 4-inches.

Kayla Vavra took seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:51.63 and eighth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:23.50.

Danielle Gygi took ninth in the high jump.

The 4X400-meter relay team took eighth and the 4X200-meter relay team took ninth.

On the boys side, Bloomer paced the county teams with an eighth-place finish. The Blackhawks finished with a team score of 24 points.

Elk Mound won the boys side of the meet with a score of 99.5 points.

Clint Heinze led the way for Bloomer, winning the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:55.33.

Ben Klatt also had a nice showing for the Blackhawks, taking fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet. Cory Zwiefelhofer took fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.44 seconds.

Jacob Anderson took sixth in the 3,200-meter run, while Matt Salm took seventh in the 55-meter hurdles.

Cadott came in 11th with a team score of 20 points.

Ben Kyes led the Hornets with a third-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, coming in at 8.80 seconds. Kyes also took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 40-feet, 3-inches.

Jake Roth took fifth in the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet. Sean Sonnentag took seventh in the pole vault.

Jordan Spindler took eighth in the shot put.

Sam Ruhe took eighth in the high jump, while the 4X400-meter relay team took eighth as well.

Cornell/Lake Holcombe took 17th as a team.

Travis Anderson led the way for Cornell/Lake Holcombe with eighth-place finishes in the triple jump and 200-meter dash.

Thomas Sippy took fifth in the 3,200 meter-run with a time of 11:48.85. Eric Nedland took eighth in the pole vault.

New Auburn took 19th as a team. The Trojans were led by their 4X400-meter relay team, which took fifth with a time of 4:01.89.

Bloomer is back in action on Tuesday when it heads to a meet on the campus of UW-River Falls.

Cadott is off until Tuesday, April 2 when it heads to Neillsville, while Cornell/Lake Holcombe and New Auburn are off until Monday, April 8 when they head to Flambeau.
