Allie O’Neill’s path to Chippewa Valley Technical College did not follow a straight line, but she will tell you it is one defined by resilience, self-discovery and a deep curiosity about people.
On Thursday, May 21, that curiosity will culminate in an associate degree in marketing as she walks across the stage with a diploma in hand.
A 2020 graduate of Fall Creek High School, O’Neill grew up immersed in extracurriculars, especially musical theater, performing with Eau Claire Children’s Theatre and the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild.
After graduating from high school, she initially pursued a career in social work driven by a desire to help others. But over time, she realized her strengths and passions pointed in a different direction.
Allie worked as a boutique manager, sharpening her skills in sales, customer relationships, and tracking key performance indicators. That experience reignited her interest in marketing and gave her the confidence to take a chance on herself.
She returned to the classroom in 2023 with a different field in mind.
“I’ve always loved figuring people out,” O’Neill said. “That’s what drew me to marketing – understanding people, products, and how everything connects. I was afraid of trying again. I didn’t know if I could do it.”
That fear quickly faded as she found support from instructors who helped her rebuild her confidence and recognize her abilities. Through hands-on learning and making meaningful connections, O’Neill rediscovered her academic strengths and her sense of self-worth.
“Five years ago, I wouldn’t have believed I’d be here,” she said. “Now, I’ve become someone that version of me would be proud of.”
Known for her enthusiasm in class and eagerness to participate, O’Neill embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. Her passion for marketing research, storytelling, and connecting with others has led her to pursue career opportunities with businesses and people she genuinely believes in.
As she prepares for what is next, O’Neill carries forward a message she shared with her fellow graduates: “Take pride in how far you’ve come.”
“You’ve earned that pride,” she said. “No one can take that from you.”
With her determination and curiosity for the world around her, O’Neill is ready to make an impact wherever her path leads next.
