More than 90 females took part in STEM-related, hands-on sessions Tuesday, April 28, during the Imagine Summit, a half-day event created by WIN Technology designed to inspire middle and high school girls to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Hosted at Chippewa Valley Technical College’s Business Education Center, girls in grades seven through 10 took part in hands-on sessions led by industry experts, educators, and community partners, exploring topics such as robotics, architecture, 3D printing, cybersecurity and fiber optics—fields where women are still underrepresented. Students from Altoona, August, Bloomer, Cadott, Fall Creek, Flambeau, New Auburn and Stanley-Boyd were able to participate.
Sessions like Robot Maze, Real Life Rocket League and the Mystery Bag Engineering Challenge encouraged teamwork, creativity and critical thinking. At the same time, workshops on computer hardware and internet infrastructure offered behind-the-scenes insights into the tech that powers everyday life.
“The Imagine Summit not only introduced girls to new skills and technologies but also connected them with strong female role models working in STEM,” said Ashley Sidie, WIN Marketing Communications specialist. “The energy and engagement throughout the day reflected the importance of early exposure and representation in shaping future career paths.”
